Powder Coat Stripping for Production Racks, Hooks & Fixtures

Powder coatings are built to last — which is exactly the problem when you need the substrate back. Strip Tech Solutions, based in McKee, Kentucky, removes cured powder coat chemically — without blasting, burning, or warping your fixtures. Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours, and we handle volume runs of production racks and hooks as routine work for customers across Kentucky and nationwide.

Why chemical stripping beats burn-off and blasting

Burn-off ovens reach temperatures that can anneal steel, warp thin-wall tubing, and change the mechanical properties of heat-treated parts. Abrasive blasting removes coating but also removes substrate — over enough cycles, production hooks lose dimensional accuracy and fixtures stop holding parts correctly.

Our chemical bath process dissolves the coating matrix and lifts it off the substrate. The steel, aluminum, or alloy underneath is untouched. That means you can put the same rack through our line dozens of times without losing wall thickness or introducing heat distortion.

What we strip

  • Powder-coated production racks, hooks, and jigs — steel and aluminum
  • Conveyor components with baked-on powder overspray buildup
  • Mis-coated or rejected parts needing rework before recoating
  • Multi-layer stackups — topcoat over primer over older powder
  • Hybrid and epoxy-based powders, polyester TGIC, and urethane powders

Methylene chloride-free process using our ST-50 formula

Many powder stripping operations historically relied on methylene chloride (dichloromethane / DCM) baths. The EPA commercial ban closed that door, and the aqueous alternatives most shops defaulted to often take two or three times longer to cut cured powder.

Our proprietary ST-50 formula was developed specifically to match methylene chloride strip rates on cured powder coatings without the regulatory exposure. Same dwell times, same complete removal, zero methylene chloride.

Turnaround and volume

Standard turnaround is 24–48 hours from part receipt. We run 24/7 for bulk orders and can sequence thousands of rack hooks per day through our line. If your coating line is scheduled around hook rotation, we'll work to a cadence that keeps your production running.

Pickup and drop-off logistics are flexible — we handle freight inbound and outbound on standing accounts.
